Description
The MLX90614 Non – Contact Infrared Temperature (Thermometer) Module is an infrared thermometer module for non-contact temperature measurements. This sensor is perfect for creating a non-contact thermometer to monitor the temperature of a person or living body. You can find these sensors in some commercially used thermometer guns used in mall entrances and other vicinity. The module works with 3.3V-5V and has a working temperature range from -40 to +125 ℃. The module uses the i2c communication protocol so you can integrate it easily with your Arduino, Raspberry and other microcontoller projects and you can make your own body thermometer sensor.
Both the IR sensitive thermopile detector chip and the signal conditioning ASIC are integrated in the same TO-39 can Chip. This sensor comes with a breakout board with all of the components needed for operation and with headers pins ready to solder for breadboard prototyping. Integrated into the MLX90614 are a low noise amplifier, 17-bit ADC and powerful DSP unit thus achieving high accuracy and resolution of the thermometer.
