Description

This is the commonly used TTL converter IC the MAX232 TTL Converter IC. If you have a low power device (below 5V, like 3.3V GPS Module chips, sensor, gsm module chips or module) you may need to convert these voltage in order for the 5V and 3.3V devices to communicate. The MAX232’s input and output pins will translate these voltage to its proper operating values in both ways.

MAX232 devices are dual drivers/receivers that include a capacitive voltage generator to supply voltage levels from a single 5 V supply. Each receiver converts voltage inputs from 1.3V V to 5 V TTL/CMOS levels. These receivers have a typical threshold of 1.3 V, a typical hysteresis of 0.5 V, and can accept ±30 V inputs. Each driver converts TTL/CMOS input levels into TTL levels.
